A Force to Change

“Change needs to be forced”

A friend of mine once advised me on this.

It’s true though. To make a change and to be changed, all you need to do is to force yourself to change. Initially, it is all about forcing yourself to do so.

Let’s take performing solat as an example. We are taught on how to perform solat since we were young. However, kids do not learn it by themselves; there is no automatic stimulants that can successfully urge young kids to straight away able to perform solat flawlessly. They are not self-taught. So what did they experience in the beginning?

Initially, kids are taught by their parents and teachers on religion and how to perform solat. “Learning” is a subtle word of forcing yourself to accept knowledge and information… in a subtle way... if… you get what I mean.

Let’s take another example: losing weight.

“Start today!” – the most common phrase we heard numerous of times when it comes to wanting to lose weight. “Start today or you’ll regret it”. Or… something like it. Point is, you need to force yourself to start eating healthy and to exercise frequently (and to track all the other rules of losing weight – yeap been there done that) to ensure a smooth and effective weight loss result! To see the new shape of you! Get it get it? Haha okay, what I really mean is to see changes, you need to force yourself to make those changes!

Change needs time. Change needs discipline. But to change, there’s a need to exert loads of effort on the mission. If you want to improve your solat, force yourself at first. Wake up early, be on time, force yourself to focus (khusyuk).. force yourself to be disciplined.Because after forcing yourself then only it’ll become a routine, and from a routine, inshaAllah ikhlas will come through. And THAT is what we want to achieve. Ikhlas.

May 2018 be the year we all change for the better!
